We have now stayed in this tropical paradise for over a week. Reality has sunk in, and yesterday, our parents announced that we have a more permanent house rented. The man who rented the house to us gave us a whole bag of coconuts. The house is great, and a cool breeze drifts through the property during the afternoon. The house is sheltered by a whole orchard of mangos. Even though I don’t like mangos, I still like coconuts that grow all around the property.

Even though we left so many people back in Santa Cruz, CA, I find myself getting closer to my family, like Viên, who I enjoyed sharing music with while the others were away; Or Nene, who always wants to help me open a coconut. I miss everyone and I can’t wait for you to visit.

Our first close-ish call with nature came on the 8th, when Viên found a scorpion in the pool. This left me to think about what would have happened if the scorpion had crawled into someone’s shoe instead of the pool. I anxiously hope that no more dangerous animals cross our path.

Miss you all,
Sinh
