an experiment in forced family fun

EL Trabajo

I have been workin for my neighbors for a long time now. Every day except for Friday, I walk two huge dogs through the extremely dog unfriendly streets of Villareal.

Almost every house here has a guard dogs, which is very unfortunate for anyone trying to walk their dog or even ride a motorcycle through the streets. In addition to that, most of the dogs sleep in the street and will not move, even if a car is barreling down on them.

While walking dogs here, however, dogs sleeping in the street would be a nice break. As of now, every walk consists of shooing biting dogs away from the dogs being walked, trying to drown out the constant barking, and yanking the good dogs away from the occasional vehicle.

While most dogs will only bark, a few will actually bite. These are the dogs you need to keep away from your own. While on the job, I think of myself as a bodyguard, as I have to kick, throw rocks, and hit other dogs with a stick to keep them away from the ones I am walking.

I walk Hank and Bodhi for our neighbors the Defeos. They pay me decently, and I needed a job anyways. Even if the other dogs bark a lot, I definitely use the extra money for food and savings.
