an experiment in forced family fun

Food Review Mexico City

Restaurants were plentiful in both the areas that we stayed, and we got some good food. Here are the restaurants we went to and a brief description of each. This list is from my prospective, so other posts by family members could talk about restaurants not in this list. I did not go to those restaurants.

Señor Taco (4.6 stars)

A restaurant that was good, but emphasized quantity over quality. For very cheap, we got a huge bowl of meat. It was great, but we had so many leftovers that we were tired of it at the end.

Pescadito (5 stars)

Great fish tacos. They had this fried, stuffed pepper that was the perfect mix of flavors. The pepper was spicy, the inside was salty and slightly sour. The texture was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely 5 stars.

Bendita Paleta (4.5 stars)

Great gelato. Flavor was perfect and not fake tasting. The flavors were interesting and complicated. The building itself was kind of boring, which made it tank a little bit because most of the restaurants we ate at had really cool spots or rooms in their restaurants.

YATAI Japanese Streetfood (5 stars)

While members of our group did not like this spot, I thought it was great. The ramen had good tasting broth, and the noodles were slightly stiff, which is how I like them.

Trinidad Ritual de Sabores (5 stars)

These were hands down the best tacos that I have ever had. Perfect flavor, perfect texture, perfect everything. Located in a bustling market, the ambience perfectly matches the food.

Ideal Bakery (4 stars)

You can buy more bread from this one store than you can buy from anywhere else. While the pastries tasted good they were kind of dry and lacked texture. If you are looking for more bread than you can ever eat, come here!

Umi Sushi (3 stars)

Great atmosphere, but the sushi rice wasn’t the correct type and the soy sauce was bland. The fish itself was great, but not prepared right and I did not like it. Thanks to Nene and Vien we walked over half an hour to get some mediocre sushi from this place.
