hmmm … where to start?
hi! we recently moved our family from Santa Cruz, California to Costa Rica (final destination tbd). the move is/was hard in all ways practical and emotional, but we are committed to learning a new way of life, even if only temporarily, as the deficiencies of our country came into sharp focus after the 2024 election cycle. to be clear! that stuff (intolerance and hate, economic disparity and corruption, devaluing education) was always there and to some extent is everywhere, but it just became too painful to bear in the same old way.
since i am not known for my, ahem, keeping in touch skills, this blog is a place for our family to communicate with our people. it’s also probably a place to transfer some of our inner life to our outer life; for example, it might be a place to rage at our parents for making us move or a place to marvel at how life is different in a new place or maybe a place to marvel at how similar life is. haha we’ll see. through all possible paths, thanks for stopping by to travel with us.
